STRANGE CAGES GLITTER & ASH

Strange Cages have returned with a new track which will take pride of place on their debut album Pop Therapy, out today (Friday 13th of September.) Their often noisy garage-rock normally sees them compared to and performing alongside bands such as King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard and IDLES, but this demented Nick Cave-esque ballad is an exploration of synth chords, droning guitar notes and gritty vocals, all situated within a haunting waltz rhythm. The huge, thick-textured outro guitar solo even makes ‘Glitter & Ash’ ring true of Pink Floyd. Of the track, lead vocalist Charlie McConnochie says “it feels good to slow things down and show a different side of us. We think it’s the best song we’ve written so far and is perhaps best enjoyed with a late night deep bath.” Their UK tour also kicks off today and dates can be found here. - Dan Peeke
